Windows Live Writer has been a great tool – until today. When I attempted to publish my regular photo-laden post today, I got this:
“The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden.”
No matter what I do (re-configure WLW, shut down, re-name my Picasa WLW web album, etc.), I get the same damn message: “The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden.”
Can you imagine my blog without photos?
Odd that the last sentence in the post I can’t seem to publish is a request for a creativity-inducing meme, because writers block is putting it mildly and I’ve considered taking a break from blogging since my life is so work-and-worry-filled lately that all my creativity and ability to write seems to have been shot to hell.
Maybe “The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden” really means “Take a blogging break, Carol!”
Sigh.
Help?
(News Flash: So it turns out that I had used my full 1 GB of free storage on my Google Picasa account and they simply needed some money from me before allowing me to post more photos. Now why couldn’t the error message have just said something like, “Hey – you’ve run out of free storage. Please purchase additional storage in order to post additional photos to your blog” instead of “The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden.” Geeze! Oh, and apparently memory is slow to kick in, so it might be 24 hours before I can post Saturday’s intended post.)
Of course getting all this for free was bound to end!
ReplyDeleteBut I will gladly donate money for the cause of expanded memory-- I love all your pictures!
Forbidden, huh? Your remote server must be German.
ReplyDeleteError messages are so worthless, they never say what the real problem is. Glad you got the problem solved. A blog without pictures would be like a hamburger without onions. (ps. I'm an onion person)
ReplyDeletehmm by that time I really should switch to wordpress then :p
ReplyDeletehow much does it cost to upgrade?
I just ran across this error, and while searching around, I noticed that Picasa Web Albums are limited to 500 photos each. So even if you aren't near your 1gb free limit, but have over 500 photos, you could receive that error.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for posting this!! I was having trouble and I googled "The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden." and found your blog. I deleted some photos from picasa and voila! Thanks again!
