Bring back the wedge!
No, not that wedge! I mean the Dorothy Hammill wedge haircut.
Yes, I know this dates me. I know this screams of the 70's. But really, is this not a cute haircut?
No, really. Don't look at the blue ruffely, polka-dotted dress, and yeah, she's young, but is the style not cute? Because really, I think it totally is! (Elisabeth and Kat, I can sense it now... I can feel you rolling your eyes and shaking your heads...)
I mean, look at this movement:
Total rockin' SYLE!
I had a wedge cut for years in my early 20's. It was a bit longer than Dorothy's...
It even flowed when I moved my head, just like Dorothy's!
Well, maybe not just like Dorothy's...
But the minute I can get a Dorothy Hammill wedge cut again without being laughed out of the salon, you better believe I'll do it!
This, my latest style, is as close as I can come now...
...but it doesn't even come close to the rockin' and awesome (er, I mean bitchin' and rad) wedge style of the 70's!
Anyone else with me on this? Anyone? Anyone at all?
(Helllllooooo? Is this thing on?)
Sigh.

I LOVE the wedge. However, it is best with thick hair, like yours. Me? Not so much.
I had one of those! But my hair is far too straight and it just didn't lay right. My Mom was a master, but she couldn't overcome my stick atraight hair. In my fourth grade picture I look like the little Dutch boy.
I also loved the wedge. However, with hair like mine (spider webs, really), it would be totally laughable. Not having any hair to speak of has always made me sad (and jealous!). Unfortunately, two of my granddaughters have inherited that gene. The three-year old even now has barely enough hair to make pigtails.
Sorry. You're on your own on this one. Some things are best left in the past.
I'm with you, Carol! I had a wedge for a couple of years and loved it. I'd totally give it a try again. Your wedge pics are great!

I have very thick hair and wore a wedge for many, many years. Then I went to layers and that suits my hair better. (hairdressers who couldn't cut my wedge with a bit of layering along the bottom left me with a mushroom-do)
YES! I wore my hair like that all through 9th grade (1978) and it was FAB. Then came the era of the bad perm...
Having a wedge nowadays would make you look oldfashioned....because of the simple reason that it is not in fashion right now and would make you stick out.
But why don't you cut your hair a bit shorter, layered and then you can also brush out the neckpart a bit outward?
The cut looks good Carol! I sure wish I could see your face...
If the wedge was dated in 2009, is it coming back today?
