Sad News

One of the many blogs on my blogroll is NPR's Leroy Siever's blog. I first heard about Leroy about a year ago on some TV special about cancer about a year ago. I can't remember the name of the show or what station it was on, but that evening I started reading Leroy's blog and I've read it daily since then. I've never commented on his blog, but have quietly spent a few moments every day with him as I've followed his journey through the trials and tribulations of being a cancer patient. He's been brutally honest, painfully poignant, delightfully funny and just incredibly real all along. I've come to admire and respect him, and to feel like his friend even though we've never made any contact at all.

His blog entry today stopped me cold. He's running out of options. It's just really, really sad.

Carol, that was really painful to read. It only emphasizes the need to enjoy what you've got while you've got it. On a happier note, Happy New Year!

I can't read things like his blog, as beautiful and honest and poignant as it may be. After watching both my father and my sister die of cancer, and sitting with my mom while she had a portion of lung removed, I just can't go down that road with others.

It's where my emotions can't travel anymore.

I'm so sorry that he's run out of options. Life can be so cruel sometimes.

Oh NO! I've followed his blog sporadically and have always enjoyed his perspective and his honesty. This entry gave me chills too-- I'm so sorry to read that he's suffering so much! Thanks for the link-- and for reminding me to go hug my family and call my parents...
