Elisabeth, Kat and I all own (and practically live in) Ugg (or Ugg-type) boots. When the three of us walk together, there's a virtual boot-on-pavement symphony that drives those around us crazy. It sounds like we're dragging our feet, but we're not; it's simply the trademark sound of the boots and can hardly be avoided.
We recently noticed that we've all worn the soles of our boots down in almost exactly the same pattern of wear: we obviously tend to step on our inside heels and this propensity is more pronounced on the right foot than on the left.
I guess we each have a very specific gait, and that individual gait is why we recognize those we know even when they're far away, and even before we can see a face. And yet, it looks like perhaps people's gaits tend to be similar within families.
The things I find fascinating... pathetic, no? (This post will most definitely be filed under "random tidbits"!)
How funny. I'm going to have to go and look at all of our shoes now! I know that i tend to walk on the outside of my feet, but I've no idea about anyone else's.
ReplyDeleteThis sort of reminds me of when I was putting together a greeting scrapbook for my mom's 80th b'day and friends of hers from all over the world sent letters, etc. I found that a mom (NYC) and a daughter (Greece) and a brother (Japan) and a sister (Massachusetts) had similar graphic styles/greeting styles, even though they hadn't seen each other's work. There must be a lot more to genetics than we even guess at!
ReplyDeleteI don't know . . . I am not a big fan of the Ugg boot. However, I do notice that my mom and I also share the same taste in clothes and shoes.
ReplyDeleteUggs? And these are the young women you take fashion advice from? The brand was named because they are "ug"ly. And it's true, they are ugly.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful young women can get away with ugly shoes. Why would a 50 year old woman not want something a little prettier, softer, nicer? There are comfortable footwear options that are pretty too.
Actually, it's not an issue of "fashion advice" or style for me; it's purely about warmth and comfort -- and my boots are definitely both and are perfectly suited to the weather we're having lately in Seattle.
ReplyDeleteBut thanks for your concerned feedback!
Carol
