Countdown to Hawaii...
...and all I can think of is my to-do list. Truly, I need to let go and relax there. In the long run, my unemployment and other worries need to take a faaaaar back seat to just plain being in the moment. This is such a great opportunity for us. The kids -- and the family -- are at such a perfect stage for this sort of a trip. We'll all have plenty of togetherness when we want it, but the kids (kids... ha!) are also independent enough that they can go off and do their own thing. And maybe, just maybe, it'll be a chance for Tom and I to do some much-needed rejuvenating of our own.
Five or ten years ago, this sort of trip would have been nuts and probably not felt like a vacation at all for me. And in five or ten years there will be spouses and grandchildren and this sort of a trip would be... well, another sort of a trip.
So I really need to let go, stop worrying about LIFE and just enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I need to remember, from looking at photos of Tom's and my trip to Maui in '02, what paradise feels and looks like:

Oh, yeah! what more can one say??
I'm so jealous! Definitely relax and enjoy this trip at this moment in all of your lives...like you said, life keeps changing so you only have one chance to have this trip this way.
You both look really relaxed and happy in that photo and the rest of the photos are fantastic. What fun!
Ahh, Maui! I haven't been there since 1986 and wonder if I'll ever get there again.
Yep, just let all the "to do" stuff go and BE. It'll still be there when you come back.:-)
Hope you guys have a wonderful, rejuvinating (tell me about it! don't we all need to try to light that spark againt?) time, especially you and Tom.
